My work is a search for the essence of emotional energy through color, shape, and mark. I don’t make gestures for gesture’s sake, but only if it helps get to a truth or core emotion. Each painting goes on its own journey - even the simplest ones have layers of work underneath. I often rework paintings that I considered done months before. It might be to hone in on one aspect to define it further or to change it drastically until it becomes a completely different painting. It’s an intuitive process and the painting emerges over time.
